The Q-Wheel is a language tool designed to assist users in learning the Arabic alphabet. It enables individuals, including those unfamiliar with Arabic script, to transcribe their names by associating English letters with their corresponding Arabic phonetic equivalents. This feature allows users to generate and share their names in Arabic as digital stickers online.
- The application offers audio capabilities, allowing beginners to listen to the pronunciation of each letter and familiarize themselves with the Arabic alphabet.
- Novice users are provided with detailed step-by-step instructions, while advanced users have the option to access the animated wheel interface directly. Here, they can spin the wheel and select Arabic characters that correspond to their English names.
Initial development of the app stemmed from a collaboration between Qatar Foundation International and Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), inspired by a physical rendition of the wheel conceptualized and crafted by Moneera Al-Badi.
Qatar Foundation International (QFI) is an esteemed educational organization dedicated to enhancing the teaching and learning of the Arabic language. Through its support for innovative, research-driven Arabic language initiatives in publicly funded primary and secondary schools, QFI endeavors to broaden access to Arabic education for educators and students globally.
